Promoting the visibility of women and other underrepresented people in the audio industry and helping them build professional networks is an important priority for us at the VDT. Alongside our own online event series Women in Sound, we also want to highlight other initiatives working towards greater equality of opportunity. One such event is the Women Create Music Convention 2026, taking place in Ludwigshafen on 25 October, where Elettra Bargiacchi will represent the VDT as a panel participant.

The convention is part of the “Women Create Music” initiative by the international networking platform We Create Music. It brings together people working in music, songwriting, production and audio engineering, as well as representatives of the music industry, to explore career opportunities and improve access to professional networks, resources and decision-making positions.

The programme includes keynotes, panels and practical sessions covering songwriting, music production, marketing, artistic identity and career development. At the “Pitch Your Music Sessions” and on the “Talent Stage”, selected artists can present their music to industry professionals and receive direct feedback.

The VDT at the “Power & Access” panel

At 2:15 pm, Elettra Bargiacchi, co-host and co-organiser of our “Women in Sound” series, will take part in the “Power & Access” panel, exploring women's career paths, professional networks and opportunities to gain influence in an industry that remains largely male-dominated. Together with Marie Kück (Universal Music), Nanja Oedi (Music Family Hub, formerly Deutsche Grammophon), Theresa Paul (sunshine live) and Susi Dip (Hip-Hop/Rap Product Management), Elettra will discuss personal experiences, equal opportunities and how existing structures can be changed. The discussion will be moderated by Janina Klabes.
