The Student 3D Audio Competition is being held for the third time. The Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics in Graz established the competition in 2017 and has organised it ever since. Winning entries will be presented to the ICSA visitors in a room featuring a premium Ambisonics sound reinforcement system.
Students from all over Europe were again invited to take part with extraordinary 3D audio productions in three categories. The two previous years saw many notable productions, and the judges have already commended the high quality of this year's entries. Listening to the nominated productions at the award ceremony will be a worthwhile experience! Starting at 4 p.m. on 26 September, the performance takes place in the 'TV Studio' room, which has been fitted with a half dome with more than 30 speakers.
"We are delighted that the competition is well-received. It is popular with students around the world, as evidenced by the considerable increase in submissions. Beginning with 23 entries in 2017, last year saw that number grow to 27. 2019 exceeded that again with 33 entries in all", explains Franz Zotter of the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, adding: "The competition's international character is wonderful: This time we have entries from ten countries, and the fifteen judges herald from eight different countries."
