A visit to the Tonhalle Düsseldorf – Acoustics and Amadeus

Dear colleagues,

I would like to invite you to the Tonhalle Düsseldorf for our first meeting after the summer holidays.
There, we will have the very rare opportunity to listen to the new room acoustics and reverberation system from Amadeus Acoustics at our leisure.

First, our member Klaus Lorenz-Kierakiewitz from Peutz Consult will give a talk explaining the challenges of ‘turning a circle into a rectangle’ – in other words, banishing the former ‘knocking ghost’ from the
Düsseldorf Tonhalle. He will also reveal what the solutions look like.

Our member from the VDT Executive Committee, Jörn Nettingsmeier, will then give us an introduction to the Amadeus system.
Using examples (short musical pieces and a ‘Knalltüte’), we’ll be able to hear the differences live with and without the system, as well as with various presets.
Anyone who would like to bring a (portable) instrument and play something themselves is warmly invited to do so.
If there is time, we will also go up to the mezzanine to have a look at the sound system.

As the Tonhalle is extremely busy, our session will take place in the morning. I am very grateful to the Tonhalle and its staff for making this session possible at all.

We’ll meet on Tuesday 8 September 26, just before 10.00 am at the Tonhalle (the exact entrance will be announced in due course). After the event, at around 12.30 pm, we’re welcome to pop into the Atstadt for a coffee or a cold drink (the first round is on the regional group).

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please therefore register as soon as possible by emailing .

I will send a confirmation to everyone who is able to attend, stating the exact meeting point.

I look forward to a good turnout and send my best regards until then,
Christoph
