We are delighted to invite you to an exciting excursion focusing on room acoustics.

Following an introduction to the infrastructure of the Great Hall by Philipp Sanwald, Technical Director, and Ernst Neukomm, graduate measurement engineer, we will discuss the question:

"Why did the renovation measures result in a noticeable deterioration of the hall's acoustics?"

We will then attend a rehearsal of the Basel Symphony Orchestra conducted by Markus Poschner, featuring Mahler's Symphony No. 5. Afterwards, we will exchange our impressions and gain insight into the microphone setup used for the concert recordings, presented by Andreas Werner.

Later in the afternoon, we will travel together by tram to the Don Bosco Centre, Waldenburgerstrasse 34, Basel, where Christiane Bangert of Kuster & Partner will present the acoustic redesign of the Paul Sacher Hall.

The official programme will conclude at approximately 6:00 pm. Those who wish are warmly invited to end the day with a shared dinner at Restaurant Aeschenplatz, Aeschenplatz 1, Basel.

Please note: A short lunch break (approx. 12:45–1:15 pm) is planned. Lunch is not provided and can be purchased individually at nearby restaurants and cafés.
