Die Regionalgruppe Frankfurt trifft sich im Staatstheater Darmstadt

Here is the invitation from Niels Reckziegel to this interesting meeting:

Dear members of the Frankfurt Regional Group,

After successfully launching the “Hands on...” event series, where we explored topics together through hands-on activities, I am now introducing the “Colleagues Inform Colleagues” event, in which we’ll take a closer look at our colleagues’ areas of work and thereby expand our practical portfolio through collegial exchange and networking within the association!
We’ll kick things off this coming Thursday with our colleague and member Farshad Shokufar from the Staatstheater Darmstadt. This last-minute scheduling is the result of lengthy negotiations. Today we received approval from our member Sebastian Franke, head of the sound department at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, who himself only got the green light from management today—a big thank you for that!!!
Farshad is currently working on the musical “Lazarus,” written by David Bowie and Enda Walsh. In my opinion, it’s an acoustically outstanding sound installation—the way the band’s sound is transmitted, spreading hazily throughout the space, especially the guitar, which literally envelops you. All sound sources are staged with audiophile precision and are a true delight. In my opinion, Farshad has achieved a masterpiece of sound art here, incorporating the songs’ stylistic elements into their historical context—which is reflected in the recording techniques used for the songs

As for that time (Berlin, Hansa Studios, EMT 140 recording hall, for example) and the implementation using the Staatstheater’s reverb system.
We would attend the soundcheck and the performance, and afterward Farshad will explain his concept and its implementation to us. The number of participants is limited to 15 people. I must register all participants in advance at the artists’ entrance, where we will also meet. First come, first served. Therefore, the registration deadline is this coming Tuesday, June 23, via email at: .

The VDT KIK event will take place at the Staatstheater Darmstadt on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. I will meet all participants at 7:00 p.m. at the official entrance to the Großes Haus at the reception desk (where there will be programs and two friendly ladies) and escort them inside. Please be there on time. Latecomers cannot be accommodated due to technical and scheduling constraints!
Parking is available in the parking garage, provided there are enough spaces—which is usually the case.
I’ll have very limited cell phone reception that day due to poor signal! Please keep in mind that my time is so limited right now that I can only handle registration requests. It’s nice to hear back from you—I really appreciate it and always reply—but your cancellations would overwhelm me at the moment.

So please only write if you plan to attend. Thank you very much for your understanding.

I look forward to a very informative evening together and send my best regards as a sound engineer,

Niels Reckziegel, Sound Engineer (VDT)
Frankfurt Regional Group Leader of the Association of German Sound Engineers
