Carlos Albrecht : The Birth of a Big Band

After initially studying mechanical engineering, Prof Carlos Albrecht completed his training as a qualified sound engineer at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and the Robert Schumann Conservatory.
In 1972, he became an employee at the world-famous Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg, and from 1986 he worked as a freelance sound engineer with over 1000 CD and record productions and numerous television productions. Three Grammy nominations and various national and international awards have accompanied his professional career.
From 1996 to 2007, he taught at the Erich Thienhaus Institute of the Detmold University of Music as Professor of Pop Music Transmission and Head of the Institute. In 2008, he took over parts of the music production teaching at the SRH hdpk Berlin as a lecturer and since summer 2019 has done the same within the workshop teaching at the media campus of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
Between 2009 and 2018, Prof Albrecht was President of the Association of German Sound Engineers (VDT). His book ‘Der Tonmeister, Mikrofonierung akustischer Instrumente in der Popmusik’ was also published during this time.
